    The Resurrectionists: Ted Riederer Opening Reception

    • SUMMARY:”Ted Riederer’s video, sculpture, and paintings revolve around three acts: the smashing of musical instruments, the painstaking task of weighing, cataloging and re-assembling the fragments so that the instruments can be played again, and the creation of a musical score using the resurrected guitars and drums. The band The Resurrectionists is comprised of musicians who are recovering punk rockers and who have performed with: Burn, Immolation, Slaughtershack, Clowns For Progress, Ryan Adams, Thumper, The Reply, Steady Earnest, The New You and Go Away Evil.”

    Dance on Camera Program One: Josephine Baker

    • COST:$10
    • SUMMARY:Program One’s films include:
      “Rapt (6 min): A very pregnant woman rolls into water, into the world of her unborn child.

      Josephine Baker: Black Diva in a White Man’s World (45 min): This production explores the career of Josephine Baker, one of the most celebrated stars of the 20th century. Her legendary banana belt dance created theater history; her song “J’ai deux amours” became a classic as well as her poignant anthem.

      Bone (48 min) : This unusual documentary is a collaboration of two very different cultures. Willy Tsao, the founder of the Beijing Modern Dance Company (BMDC) and considered the father of modern dance in China, and Canadian choreographer Nadine Thouin, with musician/performer Jerry Snell (who founded Montreal’s Snell Thouin Project or STP), unite their talents in Beijing in the first ever Chinese/Canadian cross-cultural exchange.”
