What's Happening in New York on February 13th, 2007

    The Triviacrats

    10pm — Tuesday February 13

    This event happens EVERY TUESDAY

    • WHERE:Capone’s Bar, N 9th St between Driggs and Roebling
    • COST:FREE
    • SUMMARY:”Hey, you’re smart aren’t you? Of course you are! You live in Williamsburg and studied post-modern philosophy at Bard, you could reference any number of literary greats and rattle off useless music history and culture even after your 17th Makers’ Mark and Pabst. Really hot-shot? PROVE IT at Capones Trivia Night.

Join the Tour Guides of Levy’s Unique New York, The leading family of Hipster New York Tour Guides/Journalists for a rousing round of booze-fueled trivia duels, with categories like:
      1. Hey! I’ve Been There! (All Things Brooklyn)
      2. Hey! I Drank That! (Beer, Booze and Bars)
      3. Political Douchebags (Assholes in American Government)
      4. You’re Such a Nerd (Sci-Fi and Fantasy stuff)
      5. Pop Goes The Culture (Figure it out, Oppenheimer!)

Prizes and drink tickets to the brainiest!

    Bruise and Gringo

    8pm — Sunday-Tuesday

    Closes February 13

    • WHERE:Under St. Marks, 94 St. Marks Place, between 1st Ave and Ave A
    • COST:$15
    • SUMMARY:”Love can be weird. Real weird.

The Bad Bruise of Billy MacBean deconstructs a relationship with verbal sparring, poetic interludes and contemplative vignettes. Billy and Klare like each other very much, that much is clear, but he simply won’t leave his basement.

The Gringo of the Deli Acapulco is a euphemism for outsiders. An insane tramp and a social worker fall instantly in love after locking eyes at an all-night deli in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.”

This event happens EVERY 2nd TUESDAY

    • WHERE:The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, 236 East 3rd St between Ave B and C
    • COST:$6
    • SUMMARY: “The Moth believes that everyone has a story. The Moth created StorySLAM to give those stories a forum. Following the wild success of our Mainstage series, The Moth sought to accommodate all the people who asked, “When can I tell my story?” and to encourage those people who doubted they had a story worth telling. The Moth StorySLAM provides a stage and a microphone, a theme to inspire and shape the evening, a lively and supportive audience, and a host to guide the festivities. Stories are limited to five minutes, and ten stories are heard. The stories are scored by three teams of audience-member judges, and a winner is announced at every SLAM.”
