Metro reporter Amy Zimmer, who penned an essay about the changing Lower East Side in the new book, The Suburbanization of New York, and other notable New Yorkers will discuss New York’s identity crisis. City Editor, Michael Ventura, will be moderating. Panelists include: street artist and East Harlem community activist, James De La Vega; Noemie Lafrance, a choreographer who helped transform the McCarren Park Pool into a popular venue, and Terry “Kid Lucky” Lewis, founder of Beatboxer Entertainment and founder of the Hip-Hop Subway Series.”

- SUMMARY: 10 Brilliant Artists/10 Killer Stories. Stealing the format of the 14th century collection of novellas “The Decameron”, The Debate Society has gathered a wide range of talents (authors, playwrights, filmmakers, a magician, a chef . . . ) to present 10 short works based on a theme.
The event benefits The Debate Society’s upcoming play “The Eaten Heart” (also based on The Decameron) as well as The Debate Society’s community partner God’s Love We Deliver, an organization that works to feed New Yorkers who because of a disease cannot provide for themselves. Free food and drink provided by Telephone Bar and Grill.
