- SUMMARY:”This May, ReddMask Theater Company launches An Assembly of Quotable Gents, a festival of three original one-act plays that celebrate New York City’s infamous saloon life. From Jackson Pollock getting sloshed with the art world at Cedar Tavern to the notorious McGurk’s Suicide Hall, Assembly dramatizes legendary tales from the city’s underbelly and appropriately returns them to their original setting – the city bar.
In 1902, John McGurk had the infamous renown for owning a pub that became New York’s premier haven for suicidal prostitutes. When an ambitious cleric walks in on McGurk’s disposal of yet another unfortunate young woman, things get out of control and tensions between the classes become a catalyst for a thrilling Easter morning.”
